Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is important to rule out appendicitis in your case if you are talking about right lower quadrant (hence it is important to get an ultrasound or CT abdomen). Other than this UTI, kidney infection, gastroenteritis also needs to be ruled out. Drink plenty of fluids (clear soups, water, ORS in water, lemonade). Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers, banana, rice, peeled apple, etc. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting).
Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Hi
Which lower Quadrant? If it is your right LQ then i would suggest heading to your nearest Emergency dept., as appendicitis can be dangerous. Before applying heat packs and/or massage it would be wise to rule out any internal problems such as perforation and/or bleeding, as applying either will exacerbate said conditions. As you have described several symptoms that could be related to this. have you noticed a decrease in bowel movements? Blood in your stool? nausea? Lethargy? Systemic weakness? On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being no pain and 10 being the worst possible pain imaginable, what are you currently experiencing?
Peace
I am NOT a medical professional, but am familiar with what you are experiencing. My suggestion to you...heating pad on your tummy, drink lots of plain HOT water, high fiber foods and NO TYLENOL. Pain meds will cause you constipation. Sounds like you are experiencing irritable bowels, if you have had alternating constipation and diarrhea, with bloating. I have had the same issues and acu pressure has helped too. Beginning on the right lower side of your abdomen, beginning massaging in small upward circles. Keep going up to under your rib cage, across the top of your abdomen and then slowly down the left side (always in small clockwise circles). Then just massage the entire abdomen in larger circles from right to left. Be sure to relax and put enough pressure that you are actually massaging your colon (from the outside of course :) ) The hot water, heat and massage, if anything, will give you comfort and help stimulate your colon. Stay away from coffee for a while too, if you can ;) Spicy foods should be avoided also. Don't take laxatives, but if needed, take MyraLax or other GENTLE SOFTENER. I hope this helps a little. Stress will cause all sorts of digestive issues too. Good luck.
