Help no one seems to be able to figure out what is wrong with my sister

My sister is 36 years old and no one seems able to help her. She has had a feeling of choking, and then loses pulse and stops breathing. She now has pain so badly in her gall bladder liver area she sceams. the doctors gave her pain medication and sent her home. This has been going on for 3 years. I dont want to lose her and we cant seem to find help. They have done tests for lupus, cancer and ms with no confirmed diagnossis. Her white blood count is way to high, she at times loses control of her legs and arms, they also go numb. She has had displasia removed on her cervics, now had a procedure to end monthly bleeding as she was bleeding all the time.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Gasping and choking on your own saliva could be related to damage to mucosa of the upper airway. Smoking, alcohol, nasal congestion, post nasal drip, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) are the conditions that can damage the mucosa of the upper airway and may result in impaired swallowing along with gasping. If this happens while sleeping then obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) should be evaluated.
Elevated WBC or leukocytosis may be caused by several conditions including bacterial infection, inflammation, leukemia, lymphoma, trauma, use of certain drugs (steroids, antiseizure medications), myeloproliferative disorders of the bone marrow (chronic myelogenous leukemia, polycythemia vera, myelofibrosis, essential thrombocythemia), inflammatory bowel disorders (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), burns or stress (physical or emotional).
Since your sister also has unbearable pain in gall bladder area, she should be seen by a gastroenterologist to rule out inflammatory bowel disease, especially Crohn’s and to rule ot GERD.
The best thing would be to consult a general practitioner or PCP and try and assess what is the cause of her problem. Then proper referral for concerned specialist can take things further and get you proper treatment. Take care!

They're so right, you must keep taking her back no matter what.  13 tests for Lupus for my poor cousin before they finally got a positive, she's suffered terribly for years.  I went undiagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic for many years, being mistreated instead for all sorts of psychological conditions, a different one from every doctor.  Now I'm 32 with the insides of a much older person, because I gave up on going back and for 10 years just "dealt with it".  I have severe complications because of it.  Take her back as often as it takes.  And good luck.

Sorry to hear about your sister's troubles. There are still many possibilities, from inborn errors of metabolism like the porphyrias to neurological or autoimmune disorders. She's going to have to keep seeing doctors, undergoing tests, and such until either 1) a cause is identified; or 2) no cause is identified but an effective treatment plan is created. Help her by getting her to continue seeing specialists. I know this is hard (I live with a similarly mysterious, undiagnosed, and painful condition), but it's the only practical option.
