Fainting after brief fever, dizzyness and nausea

I've had this happen to me twice now, the first time it happened I watched a disturbing video of some guy breaking his arm...felt the dizziness and nausea come on, tried to walk to the bathroom to throw up and passed out just as I got there, hitting my face on the side of a sink and regaining consciousness a few minutes later....(I think).

The second time was worse. I got back to a friends after being out at a club all night without sleep, went out for a drive, got back and I felt the fever, nausea and a cold sweat, tried to go to the bathroom again and passed out, hitting my face on a radiator (sigh). I got woken up by friends and apparently kept passing out, and had to be dragged to a bed. I wasn't sick despite feeling like I defiantly was going to as soon as the feeling came on, and was ok after some sleep.

Lack of food / sleep might have been the cause the 2nd time. should I see a doctor?

any help apreeshed

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Yes, the second time it could be lack of sleep. The first time the visual could have provoked it. However it could also be TIA OR transient ischemic attack wherein the blood supply to brain is temporarily cut off. The episodes last for a maximum of 24 hours and then resolve or a new symptom starts. To diagnose this, you would need a prompt evaluation (within 60 minutes) to identify the cause and determine appropriate therapy. CAT Scans or MRIs done later or when she is fine will not reveal anything.
The second possibility is seizures. Again a prompt evaluation is needed within an hour to diagnose.
Ofcourse it could be something as simple as anemia or low sugar or disturbed sleep pattern or just stress. I do not think it is related to her periods.

Episodes of blackouts could also be due to postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position).  Get your blood pressure checked in different positions—sitting, lying down, standing.

Hence it makes sense to go to your doctor soon.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
