Hi
A long term treatment spanning over a month with oral anti fungal take twice a week and local application of an antifungal cream will be more beneficial in the long run. It will help take care of any residual infection that is causing recurrence.
If your partner is not being treated, then also it is fine if you take the complete course.
Hope this helps. Take care!
Thanks for your reply. I asked the doctor if my boyfriend needed treatment and she said its not necessary at the moment? Ill talk to my doctor about more medication as shes only ever prescribed me 3 days worth of treatment to take in a row so maybe i need a more longterm treatment? But thank you for your help :)
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Thick white discharge with itchiness and swelling could be a yeast infection or candida infection. This would need treatment with both, oral antifungal taken once a week for 4 weeks or more and local antifungal application.
Yeast infection or thrush is at times very difficult to treat. You may need to take oral antifungal pills twice a week for 3-4 weeks along with local application of antifungal cream. At times both partners need to be treated. Discuss this with your gynecologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
