Internal pain

I have had upper abdominal pain for 3 years now. There is pain in my upper right quadrant. I have complained to all of my doctors every time I see them. They have felt me and said there was no swelling but it feels very swollen to me. It is extremely uncomfortable, it feels like my organs are trying to push out from underneath my rib cage, and the bottom of my ribs feel like they are digging into my liver (or whatever else is over there. I had an ultrasound that didn't show anything, and 2 hida scans. The first one could not be completed because my gallbladder didn't show up, and the second scan was completely normal. My dad (who is a ENT surgeon at the hospital). Told me he doesn't know what else that can be done and to not worry about it, but it is so painful I can hardly bend over. I have to hold my belly like I'm pregnant and it feels so swollen. I can't sit like a normal person, I have to lean back as far as I can so my insides aren't smushed. I have to sleep on my back, which is very uncomfortable, I'm a side sleeper. But if I lay on my left side my ribs dig into the right, and if I lay on the right then they dig into my left.

I also have pain in my left side, and somewhat the middle of my upper abdomen, but it's mostly to the left and right sides. The pain is usually about where the spleen is but sometimes it wraps around my side all the way to the left side of my back. Both sides are extremely sensitive to any touching, any amount of pressure hurts, to the point I've found I can not even wear fitted shirts. I can not have my pants pulled up anywhere around the waist. Even though the pain is above the waist, the pressure from the pains seem to squish my insides even if they are not tight.

If I could describe the pain I'd say it's very sharp, it stings a lot. My left side feels like I'm being stabbed. Sometimes even breathing hurts. The right side is more of a burning stinging pain. It's not stabbing but if feels like my insides are being squeezed very tightly. It makes me cringe.

It's become almost too painful to eat or drink. I rarely eat, and eat and drink little bits at a time because I feel so sick and my left side hurts worse. Those pains (the left and right side) are constant, I'm afraid to hug my mom, or my friends because it hurts. I'm afraid to get near people Incase the bump into me. There are times when the pain seems to flare and become very intense. There are other times when it's mild and I can ignore it, even though touching always hurts.

Lastly I also have kidney pain. My rhuematologist said it could be from a bladder infection, gave me anti biotics and when it didn't help, he just ignored my complaints along with all my other doctors. I know that I have had high levels of protein on at least 3 different urine tests. I was told not to worry about it, instead of them trying to find out what was causing it.

My primary doctor and my dad both believe it is some kind of inflammation. I have joint inflamation as well. I believe that I have lupus but my doctors seem to think there is not enough proof.

I'm in a lot of pain. I've been suffering for a long time, hoping that my doctors could tell me what's causing this. They don't even want to listen to what I have to say anymore. I'm frustrated, I've given up hope that anyone will help me.

If anyone has any ideas what could cause these symptoms or this pain please let me know. Or if any one has any idea what kind of doctor I should see, then please tell me. So far I've seen my family doctor, and endocrinologist, 2 rheumatologists and I'm about to see a 3rd in June. All of them have told me that it's not in their area, that they can't treat what every it is, or find out. But no one will tell me who to see or what to do to find out what this is.

I feel like my insides are going to rupture, I've gotten to the point where I wish they would so I could die and not have to be in pain anymore.

Hiatal Hernia was also diagnosed via EGD and Bulging disc and gallstones via MRI.  But none serious enough for aggressive treatment (according to docs).  According to my doctor, the HH is not the source of my problem.

(sorry I keep forgetting things)

by the way, I've seen every OLOGIST, there is. . . rheumatologist, neurologist, cardiologist, urologist, etc. . etc.   and many tests.  Still don't have a specific diagnosis.  rheumatologist "guessed" it is Fibromyalgia.

I'm having pain at the very bottom of left rib.  Last night I could not breathe while lying flat, had to sit up.  Saw my doc today, he feels it's Pleurisy and gave me meds for inflammation (which will no doubt bring on my stomach problems which happen when I take prescription drugs of any kind)  He said my lungs sound clear and BP and oxygen level were all good.
I've had this pain (in milder form) for a while but nothing compared to last night.   I just assume it's not life threatening because my doc doesn't seem that concerned about it.  He just said "rest, and take meds".
Just wondering. . . have you ever had Shingles?   I have, and the rash passed over this area and the pain was very similar I thought I'd cracked a rib.. . . (I don't have a rash/breakout now so no active Shingles but wondering if this is something permanent from my previous Shingles)

I replied to this before but it looks like it never posed. I said thanks a lot and I think your right. In a week I'll be having a colonoscopy and the other one where they check the stomach for ulcers.

You might want to see a gastroenterologist.  Sounds like a stomach problem.  You could have an ulcer which is causing the inflammation.   Meanwhile, you can help yourself by staying away from sodas of any kind - no fizzy drinks and no sugars or sugar substitutes.   Also, try not to eat bread or cereals as a gluten sensitivity could also cause these problems.
I hope the gastro' can help you.  -  I take enzymes which help me with the upper right quadrant pain.

   Wishing you the best
