I have Mononucleosis. Is this related?

I was recently diagnosed with having mono (5 days ago).  My symptoms are sore throat, mild headache, fatigue, but the most bothersome symptom is this extremely often shaking of my vision.  I don't have a nystagmus (my eye doesn't actually move) but it feels like that is what's happening. The spells happen as often as every minute and end after 4 or 5 seconds.  The are triggered more by any type of head or neck movement.  My eye doctor said I could drive a car as it is not dehabilitating, but it is a scary and annoying symptom that has been frusterating.

Here's the kicker:  About two months ago the same thing happened although not nearly as often.  It went away after a week or two but came back and is much worse.  It has been going on for 2-3 weeks now.  I had a CT scan of my head and abdomin, both which were clean.  The eye doctor doesn't think it is MS.  My hearing is good.
I am an 18 year old male.

Can mono (since it is a virus) attack and stay in my optic nerve or something?  Did I have mono 2 months ago and it relapsed and came back much worse?

Please help!
Thanks.

Hi,

By mono I guess you refer to Infectious mononucleosis, more commonly known as glandular fever in other English-speaking countries. It occurs most commonly in adolescents and young adults, where it is characterized by fever, sore throat, muscle soreness, and fatigue. Infectious mononucleosis typically produces a mild illness in small children, and is often asymptomatic. Mononucleosis is predominantly caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which infects B cells (B-lymphocytes), producing a reactive lymphocytosis predominantly consisting of atypical lymphocytes, a specific type of T-cell that gives the disease its name.

A diagnosis of Mono can be established through examination and tests. Though, the EBV virus may remain dormant for some time and resurface at a later date. Please confirm this from a doctor though it is clear that the disease may be resurfacing of a previous infection.

How are you doing? I also am having the exact same shaking of my vision (my eye does not move either)....had a virus with fever 3 weeks ago and then the vision thing started.
I go for my first MRI on Monday. I am a bit scared. Anything you have found out about your condition would help.
Thanks...hope you are better.
