Undiagnosed Digestive Problem???

Hi I am a 25 year old female suffering from digestive problems for almost 2 months now. I was originally admitted to the emergency room for severe upper right abdominal pain and severe nausea. I was released the same day with the instructions to "eat an apple" and was told the lining of my stomach was severely inflamed. After contacting my regular doctor he put me on Protonix which did not help at all. I stayed on the medication for three weeks, was told to stop taking it, and am now daily suffering from the following:

*Constant nausea
*Stabbing upper abdominal pain intermittantly
*Dull ache on left hand side of upper abdomen
*Extreme fatigue
*Foul smelling uncontrollable gas that is really embarrassing
*Extremely foul smelling defecation that actually makes me gag
*Dizziness
*Urgency to defecate. I have to stop whatever I am doing and RUN to the bathroom
*Joint Pain
*Random low grade fevers
*Swollen left gland only
*What feels like heartburn but antacids don't help

I drink lots of water, and eat fruits and vegetables regularly. I do not eat meat, and have a limited dairy intake. This is getting to the point of not being able to function, and my doctor ran bloodwork that came back normal. I previously had hypothyroidism which has cleared up apparently and suddenly. When I was in the ER they did a CAT scan which showed my stomach lining being inflamed. I asked for a referal to a specialist but it hasn't come through yet. If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, or a place to turn to I'd really appreciate it. I don't know how much longer I can keep feeling like this. Thanks!

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Foul smelling gas and stool are seen in steatorrhea. Other causes are Celiac disease (came back negative for you), sprue, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, chronic pancreatitis,  cystic fibrosis, disaccharidase enzyme deficiency,  fatty stools with no known cause (idiopathic steatorrhea), infections of the large intestine,  malabsorption syndromes, and short bowel syndrome.  The symptoms you experience can be due to any of these. Get a stool examination and liver function test done. Also get pancreatic enzymes done and see. Go over these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
