What is your blood pressure like? Changes in blood pressure from "regular" blood pressure values (either going up or down), along with raised cholesterol and triglyceride levels can indicate a problem with the kidneys. Have the doctor do a urine test. If abnormal, see a nephrologist and have your kidney function tested. It is common with persons who have either hyper- or hypoglycemia to "lose" proteins along with sugar via the kidney. Whenever you eat, blood sugar levels go up and down from a "medium" level. This constant "baseline" is maintained between 70-100. Proteins maintain this baseline. If your proteins are abnormal, or you are losing protein via the urine, your body doesn't have enough proteins to maintain the base line and you may acquire diabetes. If your urine tests are normal, have kidney a ultrasound (with and without dyes) done to see about stones or other abnormalities that may not be showing up on the urine test. Good luck
I had the same problem - did all kinds of tests and even went to a thyroid specialist but in the end the doctor thinks my low blood sugars may be caused from my polycystic ovaries. Have you ever did an ultrasound to check?
My boyfriend had a problem with his blood sugar and we found out it was actually his gallbaldder and ibs.. Eating high fiber diet fixes it for him..
Good Luck
I have an appointment with my Endoctrinology Dr. today to disuss what is going on with my blood sugars. I just had an MRI done on my Abdominal and also a lot of blood workup done. Planning on getting an appointment with a Neurology Dr. to see if anything else is going on with my head. I just had 2 cat scans done of my head, nothing found. I am planning on switching my Primary Care Physician, I do not feel as if he is giving me the proper medical advice or care. Every morning when I get up I feel very weak and my head seems as it is so light headed even after eating a very good breakfast, it takes me most of the day to even feel as if I am alive. I am having problems functioning, I do not go out of the house without someone being with me, I am afraid of driving and having one of what I call my spells (feeling as if my blood sugar had dropped suddendly) I carry food every where I go, eating every hour or so. I am trying to keep my sanity.
I hate to say this (and I am a woman), but often this situation is simply "functional" in nature. In other words, it is often present in tense and emotional individuals. Try your best to attain a healthy lifestyle, including healthy diet (proteins, etc, as other folks stated). Good luck.
I am a diabetic and a nurse. Usually low blood sugar happens when a person is on insulin or an oral hypoglycemic medicine (a medication that lowers blood sugars). People will say that their blood sugar is low if they have not eaten in a while or that their blood sugar has dropped if they have eaten a very sugary food and their blood sugar had been up a little bit. The liver stores sugar, so if you do not eat enough sugar or your blood sugar starts to drop, your liver will release sugar into your body to keep your blood sugar regulated. As for insulin, when you eat your pancreas produces a hormone called insulin. Insulin is best pictured as a key. What it does is fits into a lock (insulin receptors) in special cells. When insulin is working correctly it unlocks the receptors and allows the sugar which we have consumed and which has entered our blood stream to go into the cells and be stored for later use as energy. When someone is diabetic either their pancreas does not produce insulin or their insulin receptors (cell locks) do not open (insulin resistance). This does not cause your blood sugar to drop, it causes it to get too high! Have you had your actual blood sugar check? This should be monitored early in the morning just after you wake-up and before you have eaten anything. It should also be checked 2 hours after a meal. You can find the normal range that a blood sugar should be in each of these situations. Most likely your doctor would like to see it somewhere between 80-110 at each of these times. It I not accurate to check it immediately or within 2 hours after eating anything because everyone
I am a diabetic. I used to keep sugar around 7. One day I had Urinary tract infection. I stopped taking Avapro, pressure medication. Then palpitation started. Then blood pressure started falling. Then reactive hypoglycemia started. Then stopped diamicron. Situation improved. Probably partial denervation. Now I cannot go below 10, Ifeel hypoglycemia. I cannot go above 15. Feel high sugar. Blurry views. 6 to 8 AM feel very bad. Buzzing sound in the brain.Sometime blood pressure goes high now though it went very low at first with high heart rate. Now I feel like you that I have band in my head and numbness. Can you please give me suggestion I can come out of this situation.
