Looking for some answers

I have pitting edema in lower legs, lethargy, unexplained weight gain and bumps under the skin on shins, forearms and outer thighs (very tender) and sudden, brief  pains occurring randomly around my body that is increasing in frequency (like jabs, sometimes feel tingly). (I'm 46 and also have problems with non-allergic rhinitis, memory, IBS, insomnia, and sometimes have shortness of breath and chest pain--heart checked out fine via stress tests and holter monitor, although I had two abnormal EKGs--and I take thyroid medication). Could all these symptoms be related? Any thoughts on the cause?  Thanks!

Thanks for query.
Looks like you have multisystem involvement and it is hard to comment with your history. One small answer would be an autoimmune disease. Hypothyroidism could be the cause of your lower limb edema. But consider doing Renal function test, serum albumin and TSH as a further work up, if

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Usually conditions of heart, kidney, liver or low protein or severe anemia, which cause ankle and feet swelling, cause both ankles and feet to swell. Hence you will need to get heart function assessed by ECHO and EKG, get kidney and liver function tests done and get a complete blood picture for anemia. Low sodium in blood, hypothyroidism and malabsorption syndromes causing low protein in blood have to be looked into. Hypothyroidism generally causes non-pitting edema.
I suggest you consult a cardiologist and an internal medicine specialist and get this investigated. Take care!
