Lots of confusing symptoms

My husband is a 39 year old male who, for over the last year has been in & out of the hospital a lot and on a respirator.  His symptoms include: Generalized muscle weakness all over which affects his breathing, his walking and the use of his arms.  He is unable to walk most days, walking like an 80 yr old man with a cane, very unstable on his feet, intense pain all over his body, has resting tremors all over his body starting with his legs, arms and throat.  He itches all over and then has intense pain all over and getting out of his bed to his wheelchair tires his out and is in bed for days from the simplest task.  He has very little use of his arms to feed himself or bathe himself most of the time.  He's had muscle biopsies done for ALS and came back clear.  He used to build boats and work around a lot of nasty chemicals. A woman with whom he worked with in Clinton, MO had the same symptoms almost 3 years ago in February and died.  He's been "diagnosed" with Myasthenia Gravis, but research on this indicates that a lot of his symotoms he suffers from doesn't indicate MG and his doctor isn't fully convinced that he has MG. I feel that this is chemically related to his job, but have no idea on how or where to take him to, or even if it's too late, to see if he has any of these chemicals in his body.  Can anyone out there help me or give me any ideas?  I feel as if his life is coming fast to an end.  THANK YOU!

Infectious disease doctor or Ruematoligist or a Neurologist.  I'm thinking could be a toxin or a severe case of Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, lupus, lyme disease or a brain dysfunction. Just keep on taking him to different doctors until they come up with something.  Do you live near a teaching hospital that would maybe take the time to research his symptoms?  Sending this post with prayer, don't give up.

Has your husband's physicians suggested or treated his MG with plasmapheresis ?

As far as getting him tested for chemicals, I would suggest taking him to a toxicologist and/or contacting OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Admin.) (www.osha.gov)
