Lower right abdominal pain

Hi!
I've been having lower right abdominal pain for the past week. It comes and goes. It is not sensitive to the touch. I'm not due for my menstrual for another week or so. I've actually had this pain for years off and on. Some tests have showed cysts and recently collapsed cysts. When I wake in the morning my whole lower abdomin and stomach is achy and sore. There is also a bit of nausea. I was recently in Europe where the weather was extremely cold. I don't know if that has something to do with it or not. Or maybe the food adjusting? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello,

Lower abdominal pain that increases by sitting can be due to some pelvic pathology like pelvic inflammatory disease.Exact cause can be found out only after ultrasound abdomen.Bladder infections cause burning micturition but cystitis can cause such kind of symptoms. Cystitis is infection of the bladder. Commonest cause is bacteria in the vagina that travel to the urethra and into the bladder. In fact, women often develop bladder infection after engaging in sexual intercourse, probably as a result of the urethra being bruised during intercourse.

For that drink plenty of water throughout the day and drink a glass of water before sexual intercourse, and urinate within 15 minutes after intercourse. In addition you may need antibiotics for cystitis for which pls consult a gynecologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thanks for your reply. The first 2 may be possibilities. I have a more intense ultrasound coming up mid October. Do you think it's safe to wait until then? Any relief suggestions or cures until then?
Thanks!

Hello,

Going by your symptoms four possibilities are coming to my mind.Firstly,it can be pelvic inflammatory disease which can be caused by an infection of the pelvic organs.
As you are a female, so this possibility is high. It can also be due to fibroid uterus or ovarian cysts. Ultrasound abdomen and cervical swabs are needed to rule them out.

Secondly, possibility of irritable bowel syndrome is also there. Diagnosis is made on basis of clinical evaluation. In this abdominal pain along with alternating diarrhea and constipation are there.

Thirdly, appendicitis has to be ruled out. This possibility is rare as pain of appendicitis is severe and is associated with vomitings and fever.

Fourthly, Crohn’s disease can be the cause of this pain. Crohn's disease most commonly affects the last part of the small intestine, usually located in the right lower abdomen. Diagnosed by barium enemas and colonoscopy.

Confirmation can be done only after ultrasound or CT abdomen.Blood tests and colonoscopy may also be required in some cases.Pl sconsult a gastroenterologist for that.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
