Wow, it's going to be October before she gets in? That is sad. Im sorry she will have to live with the discomfort until then. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Although it is a while a way, I am glad she is going back to see a hand specialist. Good luck and God bless.
Thank you very much for your response.....this is more information than my wife has received in 3 years. I've printed the letter and she will now have something to study and understand before her scheduled visit with her 2nd "hand specialist" in October. Bobby
Thank you so much for your response. The possibility of a return of the carpal tunnel problem was also suggested by a physiotherapist just a couple of days ago. The lady spent about an hour feeling every part of my wife's right hand and wrist and offered advice that there seemed to be as much or more pain reaction to her inspection of the wrist as there was in the hand bones. Thank you again. I've printed off your message. Bobby
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Pain in hand can be due to osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, osteo-necrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, pinched nerve and blood vessel. A complete evaluation including X-ray, CT scan, nerve conduction study etc is needed today to decide the course of action. Please consult her treating doctor.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
It is possible her carpel tunnel has come back. Im many cases, the part that they cut out during carpel tunnel surgery does grow back and causes worse pain than before. Hand in the pain can also be a sign of carpel tunnel or arthritis. She will probably need an MRI with contrast, a CT with contrast and a bone scan done to make sure there are no cysts or tumors, and to see if the carpel tunnel has come back. I would also recommend she have another nerve conduction study done.
