Neuro/Autoimmune symptoms

I've had a variety of symptoms for 6-8 years. Specialists believed it was "something autoimmune" but had no definite diagnosis. This year old symptoms are worse with new symptoms. I have memory & word-finding problems, falling frequently, heat intolerance, sleeplessness, nightmares with only occasional flashes of memory about them, & constipation with some diarrhea. Within the last month I've lost bladder then bowel control multiple times and developed nonstop severe hand & leg tremors which lasted two weeks & have now diminished to mild but return to severe with exertion such as taking a shower. Also, I can't perform finger-to-nose or heel-to-toe tests. I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

The stress and depression thing is a sore spot for me!  I think it is an easy answer when they can't find anything else.  What I wish they would do is just step up and admit they really don't know but will continue to look.  Er!  When my son couldn't walk, talk or urinate they told us maybe he needed Prozac and sent us home.  Wow!  But, if Prozac woulda helped him walk, talk and urinate we would have greatly accepted the prescription.  Hang in there!  YOU know something isn't right so therefore it isn't.  I am on the MS Forum a lot and I read these kind of posts often.  Sometimes takes a long time to find the needle in the haystack and rule out everything else first.  Very frusterating but some illnesses are difficult and complicated.  Today is today and then there is tomorrow.  I always tell myself tomorrow is a new day and maybe we will get one step closer.  We can't give up.  Keep searching and have a dr. willing to search with you.  Have a wonderful and safe holiday season.  2012 brings new hope and adventures!

That is what my PCP thought & sent me to a neurologist. All he focused on was asking how my stress is & saying I must be depressed because my cognitive function is higher than his other patients He is sending me for a brain MRI on 1/5/12. I think he is just humoring me though & doesn't expect it to show anything. At the very beginning of this (6-8 years ago) I had either a brain scan or MRI (can't remember which) that showed "white matter changes consistent with MS" but I wasn't having what I thought of as MS symptoms at the time. My PCP brought up MS before I even told him about that. I think whatever comes of the MRI, I will find another neurologist even though this one is considered one of the best & developed a software program to diagnose early onset Alzheimer's. Thank you for responding.

There are many conditions that affect the nerves however an easy to treat vitamin B12 deficiency may be the problem. Check out the book on Amazon - Could It Be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses by Sally M. Pacholok RN, and Jeffrey J. Stuart DO.
