Nipple discharge from one gland

I have a nipple gland that swells, and i have to squeeze out the discharge that looks like curdled milk/cottage cheese.  I know i'm not pregnant because I had to have an emergency hysterectomy when I was 29.  I am now 32, and I am worried about the drainage.  Also associated with this breast, it is always sore and heavy feeling.  Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Hi im a 14 year old girl and I have been noticing nipple dicharge in both my breasts but more in my right one. It is about the size of an eraser shaving and the color is like creamish, the consistency is not sticy...more like a paste. It's like when you take a shower with chapped lips and you come out of the shower and the dry skin is a creamsih color and not sticky<--thats exactly what my dishcarge is like. I started noticing it a couple of months back but I didnt think much of it as it was very rare in occurence and only happened when nothing was covering my nipples (cold air hit it). A week or so ago, my right nipple which is the one with more discharge began to tingle ao I adjusted my bra and it stopped. My breasts have been sore recently and last night I felt my left nipple sort of burn a little and then it stopped. I also noticed my left nipple to be a little bit swollen when cold air hit it. By the way, I know im not pregnant. I also noticed a small rash near my areola a couple weeks ago but is only lasted like 1 minute and has not come back ever since. I think it was my nightshirt chaffing it. I had a yearly checkup back in mid may. Please, if anyone has any advice as to what may be causing my symptoms or experienced or are experiecning anything like mine, please post! Thanks!

^ my above discharge sort of looks like cottage cheese now that you mention it...

This sounds like a yeast infection in that particular breast. Cottage-cheese-like discharge is consistent with the overproduction of yeast in an area of the body. You may need anti-fungal medication, like Nystatin, to help get the yeast under control. If you don't, the infection can spread and become systemic, which isn't good. This takes some time, though, so get to a doctor as soon as possible for an evaluation.

My aunt had that. She had a infection in her glands in the breast. After a antibotic she was fine.

Hello,

Without examaintion confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but there are a few possibilities for your symptoms.First of all, mammary duct ectasia has to be ruled out. It causes one or more of the ducts beneath your nipple to become inflamed and clogged with a thick, sticky substance.

Second possibility is of galactorrhea which is a feature of hormonal imbalance, such as from taking birth control pills,an underactive thyroid gland.tumor (prolactinoma) or other disorder of the pituitary gland and chronic breast stimulation, such as from frequent breast self-exams or sexual activity.

Third possibility is of intraductal papilloma. It is a small, usually noncancerous (benign) growth that projects into a milk duct near your nipple.

Confirmation can be done only after mammogram for which I sincerely advise you to consult a gynecologist.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted if you have any additional doubts.Warm regards.

You should make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as possible.  Not to alarm you, but one of the signs of a pituitary tumor is leaking breasts.  Pituitary tumors are usually benign.
