hi, my nan has face pain quite often, i think she said it was neuralgia (thats not how u spell it, just a guess) all she can eat is soup sometimes. I dont know much about it but she said it is very painful and hurts when she talks, sometimes it would swell up. x
It sounds like she has facial neuralgia which can be extremely painful and hard to treat. It affects the cranial nerves. Look up Facial Neuralgia on the internet - there is a lot of information out there.
Another term that is used is Trigeminal Neuralgia. You might try a search for that.
I agree - maybe look into Trigeminal Neuralgia. The trigeminal nerve has three branches and is on either side of the face. I had it 2 years ago - terrible throbbing pain under my cheekbone and along the jaw. Doc says not sure what caused it - sometimes a virus, sometimes physical damage to the nerve, thought stress in my case. Pain killers and anti-seizure meds are apparently the treatment of choice and I was much better in a few days. Worth looking into, and good luck!
she has NICO get a cavitat scan she may have dead bone in her jaw which is bery painfull as I have it also.
Search NICO pain in google
