Paraesthesia All Over Body/Face

Hey Guys,

So last week I developed tingling/burning in my right leg that spread to my foot and then to my arms, hands, other leg, shoulders, and face/head...all within 24 hours.

It's been about a week and now I feel it mostly in my legs (the front of my legs mostly), the top of my forearms, back of my upper arms, and my cheeks. It's like a burning type sensation.

I've had something similar at the beginning of that year that lasted a couple of months. At that time I thought it was due pinched nerves in my back or something.

I'm on a high dose of omeprazole for acid reflux symptoms. So I was thinking maybe it's a B12 deficiency. However, I had B12 ran on my blood and it came back good. My doc is running MMA acid and Thyroid tests on me that I'm currently waiting on.

I notice that if I don't think about it or am distracted, it doesn't bother me. The minute I start to think about it, it worsens. I have pretty bad health anxiety, so this definitely isn't helping matters.

I don't present any other symptoms. I sleep well. I'm not fatigued. No other pains.

I'm at a loss. Any possible ideas?

Yes, I have a few.

A high dose of omeprazole, could be adding to your issues, instead of helping.
1. If your gastric acid levels are fine, your body will sense the low gastric acid and produce MORE.
2. If your gastric acid production is LOW, the  a high dose of omeprazole, will make it LOWER, one of the CAUSES of acid reflux and GERD!
3. Only a small amount of gastric acid entering the esophagus can cause acid reflux.
4. Adequate gastric acid is necessary for the Esophageal valve/sphincter  to work properly!
5. Your digestion and absorption of nutrients and vitamins
in a low gastric environment, will be diminished.
6. The MMA test has to be repeated within a few weeks, for accurate results.
Also homocystein testing ( tHcy ) might be a good indicator of cobalamin and folate function.

I hope this helps,
Niko

Hello~Having a normal B12 blood reading does not guarantee you are not deficient in this important vitamin. I would try a high potency B complex and add an extra B12 to it.

I also feel that you would benefit from chiropractic adjustments, you may very well have some pinched nerves due to misaligned vertebrae. The chiropractor will take some x-rays, they will show what areas need attention.

Anxiety and stress can certainly add to the problem and the fact that when you don't think about your symptoms they are not as bad tells me that some of this could very well be due to anxiety as well.

I hope you find the help you are looking for. God bless you.
