I had a partial hysterectomy at age thirty. I am now post menopausal.... at aged 44. I had and still have fatigue,a lowered immune system and aching joints especially in the hips... I have suffered a number of years from this but doctors told me because my ovaries were intact, my hormone levels were fine and my symptoms were all in my head.... they were wrong.... my body is aging quicker than i am....

Hello,

One strong possibility is of be rheumatoid arthritis. It may cause stiffness and swelling of joints esp hands and feet and pain with movement. Over time, deformity of the fingers may occur.Diagnosed by ESR and Rheumatoid factor in blood and x-rays of digits.RA can begin at any age.It is not restricted to the elderly.

Other possibilities may be lupus(a long-lasting autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks normal body tissues as though they were foreign substances. It may cause joint pain.Diagnosed by ANA titres)  ,gout and pseudogout(an inflammatory joint disease that causes acute pain and swelling.Diagnosed by uric acid levels in the blood)  ,tendinosis(very small tears (micro tears) in the tissue in or around the tendon usually caused by overuse)  ,polymyalgia rheumatica(an inflammatory disorder that causes widespread muscle aching and stiffness, primarily in your neck, shoulders, upper arms, thighs and hips.),fibromyalgia and polyarteritis nodosa.

Pls remember that hysterectomy which is removal of the uterus is an artificially induced state of menopause. Many women have experienced joint pains and increased risk of osteoporosis and arthritis after hysterectomy. Was it a total hysterectomy or partial one with ovaries retained?Lack of estrogens due to ovary removal may be responsible for bone loss and hence widespread pains. So I feel that a simultaneous consultation of a rheumatologist and gynecologist will be the best.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your child is doing or if you have any additional queries.
