Leg tingling

I have had this for over 5 years.  But recently I notice it more.  My right thigh has a tingly feeling and feels numb.  I walk or do water aerobics every day.  What could be causing this?  Do I need to do anything about it?  I am not too heavy but getting close - 5 ft 8 and 160 pounds.

Hi !

The suggestions that you were given by 'kindd' are right on !

Because of the numbness, I would have suggested the MRI scan.

Been there....done that.

In my case, I was misdiagnosed . Until I had the MRI scan. THEN the doctors knew what my problem was.

Numbness can be something minor to something that's not. Better safe than sorry.

Please see your doctor ASAP.

May your troubles be minor.

Hello,

Numbness and tingling are abnormal sensations that can occur anywhere in your body, but are often felt in your hands, feet, arms, or legs.
They are called parasthesias.Causes include diabetes, deficiency of vit B12,migraine,Transient ischemic attacks,Impending stroke, Injury to a nerve from a low back injury, Pressure on the spinal nerves such as that due to a herniated disk, vascular claudication and Abnormal levels of calcium, potassium, or sodium in your body.

Are you taking which may cause tingling as side effects?

Get your blood sugar levels, thyroid hormones and vitamin levels evaluated. If everythingcomes normal then CT and MRI of head and spine, electromyography and nerve conduction studies, lumbar puncture to rule out central nervous system disorders and ultrasound of neck vessels to determine your risk for TIA or stroke may be needed.

Take some multivitamins esp vit B12 for some days and see if tingling is still there or not.In that case, pls consult a physician.

Take care and do keep us posted on how you are doing.
