I am worn out

I am very tired and worn out...My doctors say I have a hiatal hernia and that is the reason for all my stomach pain.  I had the Nessian Flundaplication, which is probably spelled wrong.....But, my throat feels like its closing off, and I feel like I am dying of thirst, etc.     Why, does my stomach constantly hurt ?  I have to get up in the middle of the night and walk and it feels like I am constantly gulping.  If I am asleep, I awake and find myself gulping for air and then the anxiety kicks in.  This has been going on since April 9, 2008, and have been to the ER at least 10 times.   I feel like there is mucus in the back my throat and I gulp and gulp and gulp.  I have a little sinus infection, but dont understand the constant feeling of being full and the gulping....I am tired and cant live like this every day...what can I do

Thank You...I have cut back on carbonated beverages, but the problems seems to come and go in cycles.  I try to figure out what I eat to make me feel this way, but there is always the symtoms of getting very dry..But, can it make you feel like your bowels, etc are getting dehyrated.  I just have this uncomfortable feeling of dryness...My potassium was down to 2.5 last week and now its 3.7 could i be dehydrated as well.  Is there some home remedy for getting hydrated....I am very uncomfortable....

Hi,

Nissen fundoplication is one of the treatments for Hiatus hernia.

As with any procedure, there are alterations and adverse effects to the surgery. It appears that what you are suffering from may be attributed to "Gas bloat syndrome".

The cause of this leads to an accumulation of gas in the stomach or small intestine. This may be responsible for the symptoms you are having currently.

The course forward for such surgeries is to wait for sometime for the symptoms to settle, however, if you have no relief over time, you may approach your doctor who may be able to help you.

You may also try and decrease the intake of carbonated beverages which may lead to release of excessive gas. There may be some dietary restrictions which may be needed, in case you are not following them already.

hope this helped. let me know if you need any more information
