Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A constant feeling of phlegm in mouth or throat and persisting cough at times can be due to gastric reflux. Either you have a lax esophageal sphincter or hiatal hernia or severe acidity. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks, caffeine, and spicy food. See if these tips help. If they do not help consult your doctor.
Take care!
While neoplasm is always a possibility, a 21 year old non-smoker would have me looking at a more probable cause. I'd suggest a trip to an ENT doctor. Many issues of the upper trachea can be visualized by and ENT with a mirror. Since you work in a dusty environment, it could be a simple allergic reaction. Have you tried some over the counter antihistamines like diphenhydramine, or loratadine? If antihistamines were to clear things up, I'd think allergy. I still think a trip to the ENT would e a good move.
