LOW cholesterol

I want to know WHAT can I do about my low cholesterol and Triglycerides. My home doc doesn't see low as bad.

I'm 23 - no drugs usually not even vitamins. I eat well and exercise.

HDL 55
LDL 65
TRI 33

It's a rare condition I am sure, because I have spent DAYS looking. Could someone enlighten me?

Wow, thanks Doctornee! That is the best response I have gotten from anyone, and I have heard plenty of responses. Thank you so much, I will definitely check into sprue etc. Great! You made my day.

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Well frankly speaking a HDL level of 55 and a LDL level of 65 is very good indeed. You do not need to touch this level at all or do anything about it.  If you have a triglyceride level of 33 it is definitely low but not bad. The only thing that you can check for is a malabsorption syndrome like tropical sprue, Whipple’s disease etc or a hyperthyroid state. The reason cannot be a very low fat diet or malnutrition or poor nutrition where all the levels would be low. In your case HDL, the good cholesterol is high and LDL the bad one is proportionately low.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
