Stomach flu or possibly GERD?

For the past 9 days i have been sick on and off. It started last Wednesday. My body ached all over and i had a bit of nausea, i figured i was just catching some type of flu or cold. Then the next day i had bad nausea and diarrhea, it lasted all day and i figured i would feel better the next day, and i did, but then i started feeling nauseous again. Its been on and off since then, but seems to be really bad in the morning, i wake up with a bad taste in my mouth, i try to brush my teeth to get rid of the taste, but i end up feeling very nauseous and have diarrhea, after about 30 min to an hour i will feel better. I also burp up eggs even though i haven't eaten any eggs in a while. I know im not pregnant, i thought maybe it was the stomach flu, but I should be better by now. Any ideas what this might be?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers etc. Take ORS. Take over the counter antacid (to take care of burps and acidity) and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If still the symptoms persist, then you may need an antibiotic for the gut and would need to see a doctor. If after the antibiotic course too the symptoms persist, then there is a chance that you have developed either IBS or some food intolerance. In that case you would need to consult a gastroenterologist.
Please go through as advised. In all probability things will settle down. At any time you feel that symptoms are worsening (more than 8-10 loose stools in 24 hrs, vomiting, feeling faint, high fever etc) please go to the ER. Take care!

It sounds like it could be something related to gerd... i used to work for a gastroenterologist and alot of our patients had the same thing goin on.. have you seen your doc yet ?  are you taking anything over the counter for it ? you can have your doctor do an egd wich is a procedure to look down your esophogus and into your stomach to make sure there is not an underlying issue.  sorry i cant give you a more definite answer but if i were you i would consult my doc... hope this helps a little...
