Strange Skin Fungus

The end of the semester came quick and I did not have time to wash my boxers, which I had 7 pairs, or socks, equal amount, over the course of two weeks. I sweat alot from my palms and feet. I have had this problem for a while then my palms will chap up and the skin will peel off. Anyways, I developed athletes foot and almost over night I noticed in appearing on my lower ankle then to my belt line and now down my thigh. I am worried because now there are signs of it moving to my inner thigh.

I thought it was jock itch so for the past week I have taken 2-3 showers scrubbing with antibacterial soap and applying various medicines. I first tried Lotrimin AF cream and it caused the spots to redden then darken and almost go away. So I tried the same version but in spray which is has miconazole nitrate as the active ingredient. I noticed much improvement over the course of the week.

Now I am on to my second week and it has spread to my forearms in a strange box pattern. The bumps have highly distinguishable circle shape with an almost red tint on the outside and light grey on the inside. I should have acted quicker on this but It is strange because none of the bumps have caused me irritation until now.

I believe its a yeast infection. I have not have sexual contact in quite sometime but the last time I wore a condom. I washed my sheets a month later and now I believe I could have been sleeping in it for a while.

It started as athletes foot. What is it?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
In all probability it is fungal infection which is at times very difficult to treat. You may need to take oral antifungal pills twice a week for 3-4 weeks along with local application of antifungal cream. There are many types of antifungals available. Take an OTC antifungal with a combination of two or more anti fungals. Use both oral and local application.
Various reasons for recurrent fungal infection are incomplete treatment, treatment resistance, co-existing dermatitis, diabetes and low immunity. Please discuss with a dermatologist and take the full course of treatment preferably with a combination of antifungals to prevent resistance. Get your blood sugar tested. Maintain good personal hygiene. Take care!

Sounds like fungus!  I get this on my inner thighs :(  It rubs against the seam of my jeans and hurts like a S.o.B.

I have the best of luck with Lotrimin's. With Lotrimin's, there is a very fast initial response, but you still have to finish the course or it will come right back.  However, since yours has spread as far as it has, get thee to a doctor.  He or she should be able to give you something that is more effective.

Take one shower a day (not 2 to 3!) and wash with a mild antimicrobial soap (Provon or Satin).  Dry WELL by patting (don't rub, it'll irritate the bananas out of it!!!) and wear clean clothes.... even if you only wear your pants one day, wash them before you rewear them. Especially for underwear. I know boxers are typically a "wear two or three times" before you wash, but until this clears up you don't want to rewear them.  Please wash your sheets and blankets too.... it will help you clear up faster and anyone who "stays over" will appreciate it!!!!!

I found baby powder to be helpful at night after I'd put the Lotrimin's on and I'd start sweating again.

Good luck and keep us posted!
