Swollen glands

I am male, white, 32 yo.

For about 3-4 weeks I have a swollen gland at the left side of my neck which is sometimes painful. About a couple of months ago I had pharyngitis and the truth is that it took me a month or 5 weeks to get over it. However it's been almost a month that my left neck gland is swollen and sometimes painful.

A smaller swelling may exist at the right gland of my neck.

I had a CBC exam and it has shown iron deficiency, I think other than that everything else were OK. My GP gave me some iron pills.

I have no other symptoms such as fever, fatigue, weight loss or other swollen visible glands but I am very worried as I've done some research over the net and I read all about lymphomas etc.

It's just because they dont seem to be back to normal. Doctor prescribed me antiflammatory pills and told me not to squeeze them all the time because I make them worse.. (I do touch them to see whether they are better or not)..

Any suggestions of what I should do? Should I go to the hospital or not?

I have had a swollen gland on right side for about 6 months. went to ent doctor and he said i had bad sinus problems and the drip caused the gland. he did do a cat scan and said it seems to be fine if it gets bigger or other symptoms occurr to call. but i have to check in with him every six months.

I too have swollen glands and I am 33-----it stretched from the bottom right of my neck to the top right of my head-----I did have to see my doctor every three days to keep tabs on them----he gave me a antibiotic saying that it was some sort of bad infection the glands are still some swollen------but he said that they will take a while to go down due to the fact that is the way your body fights off infections-----I did not run fever either---I did have a very stiff neck though----give it some time and maybe they will go completly away------my doctor went as far as thinking "mumps" but i guess it was some bad bacterial infection---mine have been swollen for about a month also---hang in there----and maybe we both can get back to normal!!!

I had the same thing happen to me about 3 years ago.  I lost my voice for about 4 weeks.  Some one scared the **** out of me so I went to the doc - sent me to ENT - ran a tube down my nose and into my esphageous (?) and said that I had inflammation due to acid reflux...plus at the time I was a smoker and that REALLY didn't help.  I was on prednisone for about a week and an antibiotic.  After all the treatment, I have had no other problems like this.  I would have it checked out by an ENT dr.
Hope this helps
