Undiagnosable pain

My fiancee has been going through severe pain in both her Uterus and a separate pain in her upper left quadrant. All tests have come back inconclusive and her primary care doctor has been unhelpful. He has shrugged her off on the emergency room to treat her pain at times. The ER has told us it is his job to provide ongoing medical treatment for pain. I asked him to prescribe a paim management doctor and he told me it was unneeded and that we should wait for the endoscopy results which are still a couple of weeks away. Jaimee has been sick for over two months. Most other doctors have said they believe Jaimee is in pain but cannot tell why. Last week we called her doctor because her pain was so great that we decided she needed some pain medicine. He not only refused to write her a script he also informed his nurse to tell her to "just go to the ER.". Of course, his nurse didn't want to tell us this so they just didn't bother to call us back. This prompted me to call him the next morning and threaten to call the AMA on him for review as I can't tell that he has done anything other than bill Jaimee's insurance and shrug off his doctorly duties on the ER physicians. I informed him that it was unacceptable to send her to the ER instead of treating her himself and that it was most definitely unacceptable to not only not write a script but to not bother to call and inform us of this. I asked him to hospitalize Jaimee for more extensive testing more quickly than the month wait it has taken to get her to her endoscopy. He told me it wouldn't be covered by our insurance and that he wanted her to see a pain management doctor. I asked what had changed since the last time we saw him when he told me she didn't need one after I suggested the same thing. He told me nothing had changed but that they could not control jaimee's pain. He also told me that he was going to prescribe phentanyl patches for her pain. I told him we were not drug users and that we wanted something less severe than medicine they give to terminal cancer patients. He then prescribed her 90 percocet 10 Mgs.. He refused to admit her to the hospital and the next day we found a letter in our mailbox from him stating he was no longer going to treat her. He did not give a reason for dropping her care. Jaimee has been sick for over two months without sign of it letting up. No doctor can figure out why. What should we do now that we have no doctor. He hasn't even followed through with her endoscopy. it is still a week and a half away.

Jaimee has had several ultrasounds done, transvaginal and multiple abdominal ultrasounds. They have all been inconclusive. She has had two CaT scans done, no diagnosis was able to be made. Her OB/ GYN wants to wait until her endoscopy comes back as he wants to test for endometryosis and adhesions for her uterus pain, this does not cover her upper quadrant pain, this is the pain that is unbarable. She has been vomiting and had dhiareah and has not been able to sleep. The doctor that dismissed her case was an internist. Her symptoms remain stable except for the area of pain. I am unsure what to do for her as it will be at least two months before we can get a new doctor due to her lack of a good insurane. State isnurance limits our ability to see a real doctor. I also am unsure of what to do about her current internist that dismissed her. I have filed a complaint against him with the Ohio state medical review board but I feel he needs something more done for just dropping a very sick client like that.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi Bryan,

I'm sorry to hear about your fiancee's condition. What tests were done that were inconclusive? Was there an ultrasound done? Is there  a  referral to a gynecologist or internist?  What other symptoms does Jaimee feel? It would be best to see another doctor if the previous one has opted not to continue with the treatment. Pain medications or warm compress may help with the abdominal pain.

Take care and do keep us posted.
