Why does one side of my neck bulge when I swallow?

When I swallow,  something in my neck bulges out from a little under my chin down to the bottom of my neck. It almost looks like a tendon. Could it be a muscle or tendon? It's starting to freak me out a little. My GP felt my neck a few weeks ago and said she didn't feel anything, but I don't understand what could be causing this. Should I be concerned it's something on my thyroid or does that not make sense based on the fact the whole front part of my neck bulges?

The important thing is your GP said there is nothing there, and I presume you did a swallow for her. Perhaps you are over-analyzing your body.

I didn't swallow for her she only palpated my neck as said she didn't feel anything. I've now found a small lump near my collar bone as well. It's soft and movable but I'm not sure if it is a lymph node. It's not deep in the supraclavicular fossa it's more superficial. Maybe a lipoma?

Hello~I doubt if it is anything serious, it possibly has always done that but you are just now noticing it. It is more than likely muscular in nature. Try not to obsess about it, I am sure if it were something serious, your doctor would have run some tests to rule out thyroid disorders. Believe me, anxiety and stress over health can cause all kinds of weird thoughts, LOL, I should know, I am an expert at it.
