do you have an idea how long it usually takes to fully recover? I still feel tired, my hands tremble occassionally.
Yes, it looks like subacute thyroiditis. Also since it is an inflammation, the ESR can be high.
HI and thanks for responding. a week later the ESR went down from 76 to 53 ( sorry i gave the wrong number last time. ) now my TSH is still .01, and the T4 FREE went down form 3.1 to 1.9. The doctor said this points to subacute thyroiditis as opposed to hyperthyroidism. any thoughts?
thanks, i'm seeing an internist today, so i'll mention it.
This may point to thyroid inflammation of viral origin (subacute thyroiditis); this may be supported by low 10% 24 hr RAI uptake.

A high ESR mainly indicates and inflammation or infection in the body. It can be high in hyperthyroid states too.
