When I drink its a loud glug or gulp, its really loud at times and embarrasing

Hello my throat is not sore but I have been made aware by friends that when I drink its a loud glug or gulp, its really loud at times, but I am not taking big amounts of fluid, only drinking normally. I have asked friends to sip and I do a sip and it sounds like a big load going down me in a noisy way, but its not, I am doing the same as them but is so noisy when I drink. Can someone explain why as I find it embarrassing now, as I am aware that I am different to others when I drink.
Is there any medical conditions that would cause this?

You know, different cultures have different norms.  In East Asia they slurp soup very loudly; it's a sign of enjoying the food.  In the US, this is annoying.  My wife is driven crazy by the sound of my spoon when I get to the bottom of the cereal bowl.  But here's the thing -- these people are still your friends and my wife is still my wife, so it isn't that big a deal.  I'm guessing the sound is made by the positioning and use of your lips as you drink, but you have two choices -- work on not making the noise by practicing or laugh at yourself along with your friends and keep doing what comes natural.  Either way will work.
