breast pain and spot

For 3 months now I have had an itching from inside my left breast radiating out and towards the nipple.  I also around the same time noticed a white spot on the tip of the nipple.  It looks white/cream in color.  I have never had any discharge from the spot, but it continues to remain there. It kind of looks like a milky duct, but again, it has never leaded. I feel no lump in the area.  In dec I had a mammagram and it was normal.  I did mention this to the tech at the time but she never looked at it, just said it was normal to have discharge...which I am not having.  Is this something I should be concerned with or it is a common thing for women in there late 40's.   (I am 48)

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
All these point towards hormonal disbalance. It can also be skin tag, sebaceous secretion, dried discharge or milk. A whitish discharge or substance can be due to overstimulation as in fondling, suckling and lactation and irritation by clothes. It can also be due to increased prolactin. However  Fibrocystic disease of the breast can cause pain and tenderness along with discharge. You are in the menopause age so hormonal changes are expected. Also fibrocystic breast disease is expected.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

It is like dead skin?  Can you scrap it off or rub it off in the shower?  If you do start getting discharge make sure to see a doctor about it.  Discharge from the nipples is a sign of a pituitary tumor in the head.
