Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A solid mass in neck of an infant can be benign tumors like inflammatory adenopathy or lymph node, hemangioma, neurofibroma, or fibromatosis colli (tumor of sternocleidomastoid muscle). Otherwise it can be malignant like teratoma, lymphoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, neuroblastoma, and metastatic adenopathy. The lump can be cystic as in thyroglossal duct (TGD) cyst, branchial cyst, dermoid and epidermoid cyst, or any lymphatic or venous malformation. A CT scan or MRI can throw some light. I am sure all tests are being done. Take a second opinion as well from a pediatric oncologist who can examine your child. Take care!
The best thing you should do is see your doctor about this, it sounds serious.
