Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Throat closing and gagging when upset can be due to anxiety and panic disorder. Other than that it can be exacerbation of existing gastric reflux. When you are uset there is more acid secretion and the reflux worsens. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. See if this helps. Try to go for some relaxation techniques like yoga, music and meditation. Discuss with your doctor. Take care!
I know your not alone. When I get really upset my body actually vomits. Riding in a car, restaurant ect. doesn't matter where. My face flushes arms and neck splotch out and out it goes. It's bad enough that my husband knows to pull over when we're fighting or sudden stress hits.
When you experience a heightened state of emotions, your body reacts. Thats why when your in danger your pupils dialate and you tense up, in order to prepare for your flight or fight insticts. It's similar to the feeling of gagging or suffocating when youre upset. Your body is reacting to the intense emotions. You may be having whats commonly referred to as a panic attack. You can work to avoid these situations, find healthy ways to calm these emotions, or talk to your doctor for possible therapies of medications.
Hope I helped!
I have the feeling like my throat is sore or swollen inside. Like its hard to swallow. Its more of a constant strain, is that anxiety too?
