my son is 4 yrs old and i cant find the answer to his problem. My son has been hospitalized because they dont know what was wrong. when he was 6 months old he may problems breathing, urinating, and pooping. years later he lost his speech and the use of his right leg. a year later he got his speech back a little and the use of his leg. so now his speech is two years behind. and now a few months ago he woke up and couldnt move a muscle and couldnt speak or eat. he just look at me with a frozen look with his mouth wide open. the mri didnt show anything wrong with his brain. so now he still has these problems he still constipated he still has trobule eating and using his limbs. also he has developed a new symptom he now has trobule with remembering things and i think he is depressed.  What could his problem be.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
I am really so sorry to hear about your son. Please take him to a pediatric neurologist to rule out Gullian Barre Syndrome, amyotropic lateral sclerosis, Lyme’s disease, polio and post-polio syndrome, multiple sclerosis, motor neuropathy, and spinal muscular atrophy. EMG, spinal tap, MRI of the cervical spine, nerve conduction velocity tests will be required to nail down the diagnosis along with detailed history. It will help if you can chart his disease progression systematically to help nail the diagnosis. Take care!
