Thyroid nodules

I am a 29 yr old female. Three thyroid nodules were found in 2005. biopsy was benign. Now almost six years later i have six nodules, a repeat biopsy has never been done. had a thyroid scan that showed a small cold spot that was never mentioned to me. I got my records and found it. Labs have been relativly normal, T4 free has been low a few times. Since nodules have appeared i have gotten overweight no matter what i do. I have panic attacks for no reason. Skin is terriably dry. Loss of appitite. i have aquired sensorineural hearing loss, get dizzy spells and chronic headaches. i see an ent who does not have an answer for the hearing loss and vertigo spells. i feel like im walking around in a dizzy fog. a mri showed enlarged lymphnodes on the back of my head, and no i was not ill at the time. My aunt and great grandfather both had papillary thyroid cancer. I am a mom of four and am terrified that proper treatment is not being done. Now a new nodule has popped up that is palpable. I feel like my thyroid should be taken out do to my family history and that new nodules are appearing. I am worried about cancer and i am begging for any advise. thank you.

No they never put me on meds. She claimed there is no proof that synthroid can shrink the nodules. Im seeing the endocrinologist tomorrow. I just dont want anything to progress and have nothing being done. Im a mom of four and want this taken care of asap. im losing all happiness in my life due to whatever is causing all these symptoms. My get up and go got up and went. i dont want to feel this way anymore and dont want to worry about this anymore. i will update tomorrow after my appt. Thanks.

My sister had thyroid cancer and now I have an underactive thyroid, so I'm thinking I should have an ultrasound to check for cancer.  I have the same fears that you do due to my family history.  I don't know where you live, but I live in NJ.  So I would go to Sloan Kettering in NYC if I didn't get the answers or treatment I thought I needed.  They are the top cancer facility in the country.  I think you should go to a very reputable oncologist and see what they say.  I understand how frustrating doctors can be.  I've been there too many times.  But you owe it to yourself to keep pursuing answers from doctors until you are satisfied that it's the right one.  I'm not sure if having your thyroid out without knowing you have cancer is a good idea.  That could have additional problems associated with it.  I would use it as a last resort.  Good luck.
