if it burns it does sound like a infection.

one of the most used pharmaceutical products to treat Candida is Econazole (that's the active ingredient)

I tried it on a different type of fungi and it helped but wasn't definitive. so I started experimenting with home remedies which were eventually a lot more effective.

first of all did she have biopsy to find out which type of infection it is? you can't be totally sure it's mold.

another test she could do (I think they also sell it pharmacies) is to test the PH of the vagina. changes in the vaginal PH can foster yeast infections.

any ways there are non pharmaceutical remedies that I can suggest:

bleach (pure will burn the skin, it has to be diluted but not too much)

vinegar , this goes pure. (it's a powerful acid)

baking soda: I found this to be the most effective. (fill a cup then add a bit of water then apply it on the part like beauty mud)

marseille soap , this also contains a chemical base (soap up the part and leave it to dry out)

I also found mouthwash to be effective (for some reason Colgate Plax in particular)

do not mix the products, try either one. use pro-active yogurts in the diet.

do not use towels until you get rid of the problem. the infection can pass on clothes or hands or other parts of the body so you have to take everything into consideration.

I also tried hot tub with a high concentration of bleach (mind the concentration) it's the same thing they use in swimming pools basically. (Sodium Hypochlorite)

well I hope that helps!

i know a thing or two about yeast infections but as for the redness around the vulva thats new to me. it could be due to an infection coming from the yeast infection or probably due to other factors in her life. the best i can offer is to try and keep clean that area and to make sure she does not wear clothes that are too restraining in the crotch region, she needs to let it breath alittle down there and wear cotton undies. comfort and clean is the way to go.

Most likely a good idea to check whatever you can to be on the safe side. Your wife can and will get through this. Good luck =)
