numbness but glucoz level is normal

Since last week my arms are half numb and i feel like my arms are weighty and i feel thirsty all the time. i checked my random glucoz level is normal ( 54 normal upto 150). i think it is neuropathy. should i go to neurologist or physiotherapist?? Some time i feel very sick and bad. it seems i m dying due to weakness. CBC is normal. hgb is increased up to 13.6. SGPT is at 24. My real problem is weakness of nerves which is  getting more bad due to loose stool. Some times i feel electric shocks  while sleeping. Im on trycyclic anti depression (amitriptilyne hydrochloride) which was helping for IBS related diarrhea. But now it is not helping me.

Dear doctor,
Thank u for advice. i was given electrolytes last month. Im not anemic. For first 8 weeks i was on double dooz of riba accordingly to my weight (1200 mg per day my weight is 52), hence was anemic. hgb reduced from 14.2 to 12.7. This made me so sick. But after reducing riba my hgb is increasing day by day. Now that is at 13.6 which is very ideal on tx. Last week i went to doc. he gave me some anti depression and Mecobalamin which are helping  for IBS dirrahea and numbness and mood swing. Still my arms are not quite normal and are half numb  but it is little better than last weeks.

Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted!
Personally I do not think it is subclinical hypothyroidism. In subclinical hypothyroid the TSH is high but free T3 is normal, where as they are below normal in hypothyroid states.

Please get your Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D levels tested and also complete serum electrolytes. Are you anemic?

Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!

This looks like electrolyte imbalances like sodium, potassium, calcium and chlorides. Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 deficiency too should be looked into. IBS can also be treated by other medications. Please read through this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irritable_bowel_syndrome

Your problems should subside once IBS is under control and deficiency or electrolyte imbalance is corrected. Cervical Spondylitis is another cause for arm numbness.

Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please consult your doctor who is treating IBS for this. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
