MRSA? Staph?

About a year ago I noticed an infection on the side of my body, I headed to the clinic where I was told it was an infection from a pimple. I was given antibiotics but it did not help (misdiagnosis). I kept the area clean and placed a bandage over it as it was an open wounds that was bleeding and pussing. After my wound was healed I realized that it was not a pimple but rather a mosquito bite that was most likely infected. The infection was healed and a scar remains (a bump). I have been researching and it seems as though it could have been MRSA or Staph (my wound was similar to those I saw on google)--red, bleeding, puss, crater like wound, hot to the touch. I am worried now that I have not taken the right measures in taking care of this. Although the wound has closed and I feel and seem okay (minus the bump) is it possible that I could have long term effects that I am not recognizing immediately?

As the wound has now healed over now, I would not worry about it.  If you are concerned that there is still some rubbish left and now your skin has no break in it, you could apply a drawing ointment (magnesium sulphate) purchased from the pharmacy, but you need to follow the instructions carfully.

I agree that the bite had become infected.   Had the antibiotics not worked the infection would have spread further and you would have then got blood poisoning (septecemia).

Only a culture test would have been able to identify the specific bug.

My uncle contracted the MRSA bug twice, when he had to have a drainage bag on him to catch all the rubbish coming out.  It was horrendous.

I woukd not think it was MRSA if it was there should be no long term effects.  My son battled this from 6 months -3 years and he is fine now.   I would not worry about it.

MRSA starts out as a bump rather pimpke like it can get a little head filled with pus almost a green yellow color and can stay small or get very large.  Once it pops they either get better or turn to wounds esp if they are being picked at   or "popped".   It can be very difficult to get rid of once they bevome wounds without the correct antibotics there are only 3 or 4 that can treat MRSA that I know of, they are sulfer based and not commonly given out.  Did the doctor not culture your wound? You could have scar from the wound resulting in the lump. The bump a lso hurts very badly.
