What is this?

My hand randomly gets dry sometimes, turns pink and sometimes cracks. Some people have said it's psoriasis or eczema, others have said it's some kind of fungal infection under my skin. I haven't gone to a doctor yet, because my mom won't take me (I don't know why). This is a picture of it - it's around my knuckles and wrist if you can see it.

Hi,

It could be eczema, sweat dermatitis, allergic reactions or eczema.

You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites.

Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .

Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).

Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema. Keeping the affected area moistened can promote skin healing and relief of symptoms.

Unfortunately, nobody can diagnose you over the internet even with pictures.  If it's a fungal infection, you could try washing your hands a two or three times a day with Selsun Blue shampoo.  That's a good product for any kind of fungus problem.

I agree that you probably should see a doctor about this if it doesn't clear up, so you're going to have to find a way to make your mom listen.  If you are still in school, show it to the school nurse for an opinion.  If she thinks you need medical attention, she can get it touch with your mother.
