red bumps

Ok a few days ago my boyfriend was at his friend's house and he noticed that his back started itching after lying on the concrete floor. He just ignored it and didn't scratch them. A few minutes later his friend said his back was itching too and had been scratching them.  His friend lifted his shirt and he had at least 50 small red bumps all over his back.  My boyfriend began to scratch his back later on and he too has begun to show small red bumps on his back. They do not look like bug bites and have spread by all the scratching. Can anyone tell me what they think it could be?

He used some of the cortisone cream and it definitely helped.  Thanks for your help.

This sounds somewhat suspicious of hives.  There may have been some type of irritant on the floor that effected their skin.  I would suggest cortisone cream to alleviate the itching.  It will probably go away on its own, but if it doesn't they may want to see a doctor.
