Hyperthyroidism is an important cause of joint pains..Did you get your thyroid evaluation recently?
Joint pain in wrist and ankle joints may also be found in arthritis. There are many types of arthritis, including rheumatoid and other types of inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, infectious arthritis, and arthritis due to gout or pseudogout. Other causes of joint pain include autoimmune and vasculitic disorders (for example, systemic lupus erythematosus, polymyalgia rheumatica, and polyarteritis nodosa), avascular necrosis of bone, and injuries. Investigations like serum creatinine, uric acid,x-rays of the joints and MRI joints are required to make a diagnosis.
Due to your age, possibility of osteoarthritis is high. Osteoarthritis is a type of arthritis that is caused by the breakdown and eventual loss of the cartilage of one or more joints. Cartilage is a protein substance that serves as a "cushion" between the bones of the joints. Osteoarthritis is also known as degenerative arthritis.
Diagnosis is done by x-ray and MRI of the joints.Treatment includes rest, reduction of weight, non steroidal anti inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen, local injections of glucocorticoid or hyaluronan, and in severe cases, with joint replacement surgery.
I feel that a rheumatologist’s consultation will be the best.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
