Feeling overwhelmed by all the doctors/no answers/symptoms.

I have had a whole array of symptoms that have either developed or intensified over the past 2-3 months. I thought it was thyroid, but all the tests come back fine (I have thyroid cancer & Hashimoto's, but all levels are good currently). I really want to see a rhuematologist & a neurologist, but I don't want them to just shove me to the side and write me off as a hypocondriac. So far, all of my "hunches" and concerns have been justified, but even I feel like enough is enough, I can only imagine what the doctors are saying about me. Here are my symptoms:

extreme fatigue, numbness & tingling in extremities, numbness in whole right side of torso once, dizziness, "black-outs" (not pass out), rectal bleeding (that goes in about 2 week spouts then goes away for a couple months), weakness in legs, muscle spasms in feet toes and hips, occassional heart palpitations, trouble getting deep breath or yawn, sharp (shock-like) pain in left butt when I bend over, when I bend (even for a second) my legs immediately go numb even when I am just sitting regular, major headaches, muscle twitching especially when I am relaxing or sleeping (husband tells me this all the time), incredible joint pain & back pain NON STOP, extreme orthostasis, extremely cold hands and feet.

I am 22 years old for crying out loud and I feel like I'm 82!!! I have a thyroid WBS tomorrow (thyca recurrence suspected), colonoscopy (Crohn's, ischemic colitis, or colon cancer suspected), and am on a 30-day heart monitor. I am so sick of doctors and hospitals, but I want to get to the bottom of this especially before school starts back in August.

Thanks for letting me vent!

I really feel for you.... and all of your symptoms sound familiar to me. I would recommend seeing a physician who is able to diagnose and treat both fibro & CFS. He/she will need to rule out other conditions first, including lyme disease.

You may want to talk to your primary care physician about supplementing. (B12 - magnesium) and see if that will help some of your symptoms until you can be seen. I buy powered magnesium and the B12 drops (Walgreens now sells them).

P.S. --- You may also want to try a wheat (gluten) free diet for at least 2 weeks. Celiac disease can cause many of your symptoms, but also many people with CFS have food intolerances/allergies. Of course talk to your physician first. The diet is very, very strict so if you do decide to try this, then you may want to check out some Celiac support groups on the web first.
