Hi,
How are you?
Low potassium can cause myalgia or muscle pains and weakness. Fruit juices a rich source of potassium, also tomatoes, oranges and bananas.
The numbness in the head can be due to swollen sinus. Sometimes people with sinusitis do not complain of runny nose.
Steam inhalation is very helpful in sinusitis. I would suggest you to do it at least 3-4 times a day. You may also need antibiotics depending upon the extent and severity of infection. Take care!
Hello,
Numbness and tingling are abnormal sensations that can occur anywhere in your body, but are often felt in your hands, feet, arms, or legs.
They are called parasthesias.Causes include diabetes, deficiency of vit B12,migraine,Transient ischemic attacks,Impending stroke, Injury to a nerve from a low back injury, Pressure on the spinal nerves such as that due to a herniated disk, vascular claudication and Abnormal levels of calcium, potassium, or sodium in your body.
Potassium is an electrolyte present in the intracellular fluid and is present in abundant quantity. It regulates the neuromuscular activity of the skeletal, cardiac and smooth muscle. So, when the potassium level becomes low, it results in muscle malfunction and muscle twitchings.
In your case, potassium which is 3mEq/litre is borderline. The normal potassium level in the blood is 3.5 to 5.0 mEq/L (milliequivalent per liter).
In addition to numbness and tingling;the other symptoms of low potassium are nausea or vomiting, palpitations, passing large quantity of urine or a frequent sensation of thirst, abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and irregular psychological behavior like depression, psychosis, delirium, confusion or seeing or hearing things (hallucinations).
In addition to the blood tests, get an ECG of the heart done. There are changes in the electrocardiogram pertaining to hypokalemia.
Treatment is by oral or intravenous potassium supplements.
Sinusitis has facial pain, headache, halitosis, cough, anterior rhinorrhea (watery discharge) and nasal congestion but numbness in the arms and legs is not related to it.
Pls consult your physician for the exact diagnosis and treatment
