undiagnosed back pain

I was hoping a professional or someone knowledgable might be able to help me.  I have cronic pain in my low lower back.  Below the L5 from what Ive learned, the pain is in my sacrum in the SI joint area.  Ive had a mri, bone scan, xrays, steriod injections in every joint, including my left SI joint (which I really thought was going to help) and I have experienced no relief.  I also recieved chiropractic adjustments with no results. However it was interesting the first adjustment I got did give me good relief but the next 20 did nothing so I stop going, I also feel its kind of a hoky profession thats not based on any measurable data but I could be wrong, when your in pain you'll try anything.  Ive also tried physical therapy with no results.  So I kind of at the end of the line with ideas.  The only thing that helps is pain pills (loratabs) and the help I recieve from them is limited and diminishing as I get a tolerance.  My pain is a total mystery and thats the most frustrating part.

I am a 59 yr old male with chronic lower lumbar problems. Dr. says I have the vertebrae of a 75 yr old. He says my syiatic nerve is causing the tingling and numbness and pain I have in my legs, especially when I lay down. My lower back pain is constant. I can't walk even 75 yards without haveing to sit down. I am constantly have to get up and down to relieve the pain somewhat. I take Gabepentin for the nerve pain and Tramadol for the back pain. Doesn't help a lot. I have a few heart problems so any kinds of surgery are out of the question for me. Are you having any nerve indications at all? If I was able to do surgery I might try it but I would be very leary. Dr. says I will have to live with this.

i have the same kind of pain your experiencing. i also get steriods injection and at first it seemed to help but in time it kind of wore off and went form working for 6 weeks down to 1 week. toradol works good for me but the problem is it only works for a day. i have tried every kind of muscle relaxer known to mankind. they all suck. the only thing that helps is if i take a handful of perks. but they are very very hard to come by. all my hospitals have me labeled as a drug seeker. but in reality all i want is the pain to go away. sitting is the worse for me. walking is not as bad. the problem with perks is you get hooked on them and when you run out your in for a tuff ride. 3 days of hell detoxing from them. i feel for you trust me. i went from a pro boxer to a huge body builder to now a guy who can't even work. i think my only recourse is surgery. but that is scary. i have herad of some horrible stories about that. but i have also heard of some good ones as well. so its a crap shoot. i'm going to back doctor in 4 days and demand he do something different. the shots are no longer working. best of luck, frank
