upper endoscopy

Hi my boyfriend is going for his first upper endoscopy test in a few days.  We both understand that you cannot drive after the procedure but would like to know if you can drive at all after the procedure has been done?  His procedure is done in the early afternoon.  Thanks

I looked it up on wikipedia, so this MAY help:

I believe so. It looked like something with the esophagus.

I am NOT a Doctor..........I hada Gastroscopy June 2009,  was given IV sedation which renders you unconscious for only a few minutes. It is only way the doctor can pass the endoscope down your oesophagus and into your stomach (you would not tolerate that tube if awake).    You are NOT to drive for 24hrs,,,,,no one knows how the IV sedation has effectd you after you are awake. IT IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY    AND FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS ON
THE ROAD............DO NOT DRIVE FOR 24HRS  OK!

you are usually asked to wait for 24 hrs befor you drive... and to have someone else drive you home after the procedure.
