I think I have a similar issue. I am only 19 years old and I am having a flare up. The first time this happened I was only 15, had no sexual contact at all, and with a strange upper respiratory virus I had these black, painful sores on my vulva. I tested negative for all sorts of STDs. I had more than eight doctors all come in and look at my nether regions (which was horrifying), and most were confused. A vulvologist just suggested this was my body's way of reacting to infection and that it may happen again in the future.
I haven't had any problems for 4 years (almost to the day) and I am now getting them again along with some kind of upper respiratory infection. Does anyone else's sores bleed sometimes? Mine have bled both times. I find aquaphor helped mine back then, by the way. Also, is the coloring black or dark purple? I hate these things. I know this sounds terrible, but it is nice to know that other women are at least experiencing the same thing and that I am not some medical freak.

Looks like I'm not alone in this. Caught a cold 5 days ago and had way too many breadsticks at the Olive Garden the night before (have a mild wheat allergy). So it follows most people's suspicions that it's an auto-immune problem. Plus it happened just before strting my period too.
I've never had these ulcer canker sores before so I googled it and found this site and others describing exactly what I've got. Started as a sore lump 4 days ago and then solwly transformed into 2 sores opposite eachother. Only got painful yesterday afternoon. But what a pain.
Never have I feared going to the bathroom in my life as I do now. Such excrutiating pain that I damn near bought a catheter. Took the toilet tube idea and instead fashioned a plastic tube (cut a rectangle from the "doggie-bag" plastic container from a restaurant and wrapped it into a tight tube). Didn't feel a thing!!!
On a diet of yogurt and started taking acidophilus tablets. Going to get some lysine and see if that helps a bunch too.
I hope to never get these things ever again and hope they go away fast.

Behcet's is a genetic specific disease.  You have to have genes from the Oriental Trading corridor.  I, too, was originally told Behcets.  But I just don't have the other symptoms.  Just small red circles on my vaginal outside wall that hurt like hell.  When they're inflamed, I cannot even pee.  I read once to save your empty toilet paper tubes.  Line up the tube around your urethra and pee.  It will help direct the urine AWAY from the blisters.  It's not full proof because the cardboard gets wet, but it helps.  Otherwise, I have to just about bite my lip in half trying not to scream.

I, also have all the same symptoms, ulcers and cuts.  It started about 5 years ago.  It comes and goes. My husband and I have been married 32 years and neither one of us has ever slept with another. Let me tell you though,  that sex is nonexistent now.  It's just too painful. I live in Canada.  This problem seems to be worldwide, why is it not known to doctors?  I am a 15 year breast cancer survivor and recently was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.  So, it may be reIated to that also. I  will speak with my doctors (at the Cancer Treat, ent Centre, since I am there every six months) about this.  My family physician also sent me for std test, herpes, etc....all negative.  it could be Behcets????  I will let you all know what is said in January when I see my rheumatologist again.

Apthous ulcers in the mouth and the vagina may be indicative of Behcet's disease. If anyone experiences these lesions in both places they should consult a rheumatologist to determine if they may have Behcets. It's fairly rare in the United States but not in other parts of the world. It is a systemic vasculitis that can cause issues with other parts of your body so getting a diagnosis is important in follow up care and monitoring for other complications.

I too have all the same history of the posts I read........negative STD testing but reoccuring, painful, ulcers.......I just thought I would share how I treat mine until they resolve. I allow water to run over the ulcer area as many times a day as I can stand to sit on the edge of the tub to do so.......then I pat dry with a sterile piece of gauze (not to introduce infection into the open area) I use a blow dryer to dry the area.......it feels good and maybe helps kill off any skin bacteria in the area......then I wipe over it with a piece of gauze saturated in betadine and air dry. when all that is done I put a piece of gauze over the ulcer and fold it in a way that it stays in place. Yes it is quite a process and I hate the urge to pee during this time but it does seem to help with the pain for awhile and shorten the length of time until I heal vs not doing it. So, for anyone that is desperate..this is what has worked for me. FYI the betadine does burn at first but fanning, blowing, or the blow dryer help with that and it is just a short bit compared to the relief you can get from it.
