Dear Doc
I wrote to you guys before I am 28 year old male ( Streight )
for past 6 months i have been walking around with something
like pain / discomfort in my groin area ( not penis )
typicly acting up when I would sit or bend down ,
It sometimes feels like its pinching me, Left side 4 inches from  up from my penis and 45 degree angle to the left , and other times it feels like there is something stuck on left side of my penis . over thses 6 months pain and discomfort has reduced greatly but it is still there .
All STD tests were neg . also I have been on Cipro for 30 days
doxycycline for 3 weeks now I am taking Amoxicillin 500 mg cap tev ffor next 10 days ( but its for on going tooth infection which i had for about 6 months / gum / Root canal  )

Questions :

1.Is this possible that this infection is related to STD ?
2.How long can a infection last for and will it go away after time , if not what happens then ?
3. Could I have cought  this from having sex with someone that
was dirty and had a lot of sex partners without showering ?
and could that have been some other bacteria other then stds bacteria ?
4. why none of the doctors I went to have no idea what this could be ? there s been 3
5. should I request like a cat scan or mri for my lower part
to see if there is any marbles or some **** that is there ???
6. my wife claims that she does not feel any different she has no pain at all anywhere how is that possible or is it ?
7. Maybe its not infection ?????????????????? What is it then ??

To answer your questions:
1) It is possible that the infection may be related to an STD.
2) Depending on the cause, the infection may last several week sto months.  Some cases of prostatitis can last 4-12 months.
3) It can also be urethritis unrelated to an STD.  STDs can be transmitted anytime there is no barrier contraception present.
4) Difficult to say without examination.  If the symptoms are continuing, you can consider sending off prostatic fluid for analysis and culture, or a transrectal ultrasound to evaluate for any abscesses.
5) As mentione above, a transrectal ultrasound to evaluate the prostate, or a cystoscopy, can be considered for further evaluation.
6) It may be possible that the infection has not spread to your wife.
7) A urethral stricture or urethral polyp can be considered if infection has been ruled out.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
