Trauma to penis/ Kegel exercises

4 weeks ago I landed on my penis during sports and got an abrasion on the glans of my penis.
Concerned about infection, I showered and sprayed colloidal silver 10ppm and DMSO 70% solution on glans.  I did this once per day for 4 days.  During this time I was getting erections.

Very worried, I was constantly inspecting my penis plus researching on the internet. 1 week later I came across Kegel exercises on the web and started testing myself by squeezing my pelvic floor muscles. I did Kegels for about 5 minutes and at the end did 10 second squeezes about 5 times.  I squeezed hard and probably use my abs in aiding in the squeezes. While doing them I didn’t feel any pain other than exhaustion of the muscles.  Since then I have not done any more kegels.

About 1.5 days later I started noticing sensations in the urethra, and noticed I couldn’t get an erection.  It doesn’t burn when I pee and have no discharge.  It does feel like my pelvic floor muscles are weaker now and I feel my sphincter is not as tight.  I have less control of the muscles in other words.  I will admit I have been stressing and losing sleep over all of this.  So I wasn’t sure if the impotency was just the anxiety or if I injured myself doing these Kegels.

I started getting morning erections about 3 days after the Kegels but noticed they are about 70- 80% erect.  I have not had any daytime erections or ejaculations since the Kegels 3 weeks ago.  I have noticed my glans seems smaller than usual like it isn’t getting any blood flow, even during morning erections.  I  have had mild sensations in urethra, perineum and anus.  The pain and sensations have decreased in severity and frequency, almost no sensations the last couple of days, but I do feel the muscles are still exhausted as I feel I don’t have full control of them.

Do you think the Dmso and Colloidal silver use is fine?  Will my pelvic muscles recover?  Nerve damage (Pudendal)? Irritated Prostate?  If so, will they heal?  Thanks?

It sounds as though your statement “I have been stressing and losing sleep over all of this,” is the key to your symptoms. An abrasion of the glans is similar to an abrasion anywhere there is skin. It will heal and with its rich blood supply, probably heal faster and with less risk of infection. At most, just apply Bacitracin  ointment and wrap a 2x2 or  4x4 gauze pad around the glans  and shaft until the abrasion is healed (as it probably is by now).  The Kegel’s neither helped nor hindered the situation but did make you aware of many of the muscles in your pelvis and perineum (area between your legs).
Do not use any more colloidal silver/DMSO. No need to pursue alternative medicine.
I think that everything will return to normal if you let nature take care of you. You have to do a tremendous amount of damage to your penis in order to compromise the blood flow to the glans. When you resume sexual activity, either with a partner or with masturbation, don’t pressure yourself to perform. This will only make the situation worse for you.
You did not mention your sport, but consider the place for a rigid cup or just a joc strap for the future.

Hello Dr. Liroff

I went to the urologist yesterday and told him my story.  He examined me and my prostate and said everything was good, nothing to worry about.  I've been have some sensations here and there within the perineum, anus and urethra.  The Doctor told me that my pelvic floor muscles were fine and I couldn't have done nerve damage.  That was a relief to hear.  He told me my prostate felt fine.  He did say that I could have caused irritation from Dmso and colloidal silver.  When I applied them I felt no irritation.

My question is, since I appllied Dmso and colloidal silver 4 times 2 months ago, is it anything to be concerned about?  I've read Dmso and colloidal silver are safe and non toxic. Now I'm wondering if it desensitized my glans?  I'm not sure, I doubt it but am concerned.

Also, what kind of lubricaton or oil would be safe to put on the glans because mine seems to be a little dry from rubbing against boxers?

You'll be fine! Relax! I cannot imagine that you did anything more than exhaust your muscles with your Kegels.

Thank You!  My main concern at this point is the Kegel exercises.  I know I did them pretty intensely for 5 minutes and the bulk of my issues really started after that.  Such as the weakened pelvic floor muscles and less control of the muscles.  The pain in anus, perineum, and urethra as well.  Will these muscles heal on their own with time and gain their original condition and strength?  Plus, should I be concerned about the possibility that I irritated my prostate or pudendal nerve from these intense kegel squeezes?

Thank You!
