N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC), is a metabolite of cysteine, a non-essential amino acid that is both found in foods and synthesized by the body from the amino acid methionine.
Cysteine is found in most high-protein foods, including:
Animal sources: pork, sausage meat, chicken, turkey, duck, luncheon meat, eggs, milk, whey protein, ricotta, cottage cheese, yoghurt
Plant sources: red peppers, garlic, onions, broccoli, brussels sprouts, oats, granola, wheat germ, lentil
I forgot to add that I read somewhere that It can cause allergic reactions if you are allergic to Acetyl Cysteine. How would you know if you're allergic to it, if you've never taken it before? is this found in other foods or medications?
