What are Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms?

Many ask what are the symptoms for Vitamin D Deficiency (low Vitamin D).  I had terrible muscle cramps and joint pain, along with fatigue.  My symptoms felt like hypothyroidism, but my thyroid levels were normal.  Here's what I was told were Vitamin D symptoms.

1. rickets in children
2. osteomalacia (adult rickets)
3. muscle or bone pain (including low back pain)
4. frequent bone fractures
5. osteoporosis where bones become porous, weak and brittle
6. higher risk in those aged 50 and over of periodontal disease
7. rheumatoid arthritis
8. increased risk of diabetes due to insufficient insulin produced
9. increased risk of high blood pressure (hypertension)
10. hypocalcemia (low blood calcium level) characterized by muscle cramps, twitching nerves or muscles, numbness and tingling of fingers and toes, irregular heart contractions, and irritability

Not be mistaken, Vitamin D deficiency can mimic hypothyroidism symptoms so be sure to speak with your Doctor about any symptoms, etc.

I have to watch out for this because I don't go out in the sun very much and I don't drink milk that has Vitamin D in it so it's something I have to keep check on.
