What dosage of Topamax causes weightloss?
I just started Topamax. I'm on 25mg/day and will increase by 25mg/week until I reach 100mg. I heard the weightloss effect depends on the dose. So, what dose did everyone here have their success? And what type of diet/eating plan and exercise plan did you do to help it along? I'm desperate to lose 40 lbs (half of which I gained on Zoloft-no longer taking). PLEASE respond if you had any weightloss on this drug, I'm very curious. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! :)

the side effects for me were not as bad each time i upped my dose but they were noticable... when i started taking 2 25 mg pills in the am together they made my side effects a more intense for just a few days but then they started to go away my sore throat went away after 2 weeks
it took me 3 weeks for all of the sides effects to go away after the last time my dosage was uped at first i felt like I was on drugs and had trouble talking and remembering things and had a few bad aniexty attacks now all of that is gone and i feel the best i have felt in years
I have lost 32 pounds in 2 months on 75mgs
I have been on the generic for just four days and I hate the side effects. I was terrified to take the pills after all of my reading, but decided nothing ventured nothing gained. I've had my migraines increasing at an alarming an debilitating rate lately and something needs to be done or I will quickly be unable to support my family.
But, in my attempt to get well and support that family, the side effects may make it so I can't. If I get too dumbed down and can't find words I'll look like a real fool on national TV. That's my job. I can't do it with migraines and yet the cure for the migraines might make it so I can't do it.
We shall see.
For some reason my doctor started me on 25mg both morning and night. I don't know why that is. Everything I had read indicates that you always start a migraine patient on Topomax at 25mg at night and then increase after a week. Maybe that's why I'm having side effects that are really bugging me...dizzy...headache...fever...ringing in ears...sore throat. He said they'd go away within 2-3 weeks. But after a week I am supposed to up the dose again and that is supposed to make me feel the side effects again, assuming they've worn off and maybe even some more. Fortunately for now I seem to be able to come up with words when I need to. Another thing that is a bonus for a national TV host.
So excited to join you all on this journey. I pray we will all get what we are looking for and not have to make too many sacrifices of other things to get what we really need to give us quality of life.

Im only on 75 mg of topamax 50 in the am and 25 at night to help with the side effects that have now almost all gone away i have only been on it for a month and 20 days and I have lost 30 pounds it has made me stop binge eating when i am stressed and made me less hungry im so lucky i found a doctor who could help me and knew about this drug
