I'm 250 lbs at 5'9. This is rated as being obese. Can I still run a few miles every other day or so?

Apparently, my Plantar Faciitis may have been caused by my weight gain. Before, My max weight was 230 lbs. a couple years back I was 200 when I dieted for two and a half months (I lost 30 lbs, went from 230 to 200.) I just ate oatmeal for breakfast, small sandwich or smartone meal for lunch and a salad for dinner. With the occasional carrot or pretzel for a snack. I was advised by my gastro doctor that i could, and should do that routine again. Although, at this time, I didn't run. I just walked a couple miles a night. I know that if I could get down to that weight again, AND I ran, I could reach height-weight proportion.

Any thoughts? I just want to rid myself of Plantar Faciitis and get down to height weight proportion.

I think you have some great ideas -

eat breakfast every day.
stick with a meal with predictable calories, and reducing variety can actually be helpful!
small, healthy snacks.
regular activity and exercise.

I bet you can do it again!

Hi Neb, Unfortunately I have battled with plantar faciitis for the past 2 and a half years. The extreme swelling and inflamation that I had in my right foot extended up my ankle up to my calf, it looked horrific (I thought it was developing elephantitis!) and was soo painful. Because it went on for so long I developed 2 spurs in my right foot which aggravated the problem further. The problem has for the most part been hugely reduced after a MRI scan, series of steroid bone injections (the most unbearable pain you can imagine!!) guided by ultrasound and under loocal anesthetic. Hope yours doesnt get as bad as mine did! Suzanne.

Do you think the plantar faciitis will go away eventually? If so, how long before it gets better? It's been a few months now. Thanks for responding doc!
